The trade shows we attend are a great way for us to identify potential areas of improvement in our software usability. Two particular pieces of feedback we were getting at Aero Friedrichshafen have led to us prototyping a new and improved What's Here screen, and we want your feedback.

The first change is the addition of a column on the left-hand side showing the layers of controlled airspace. This is great for seeing at a glance which vertical layers you can fly in, at any point on the map. Uncontrolled airspace which is designated (danger areas, restricted areas, ATZ, TMZ etc) is also shown, but faded, as the main purpose of the stack is to show airspace classification.

The second change is the addition of frequencies (and some other details) to airfield entries and airspace entries in the list. One of the best things about SkyDemon charts is their clarity, but we heard that it took too many touches to reach often-needed details like frequency information. We have therefore reduced that to one touch.

This screenshot shows both the new airspace classification column and the new frequency information. What do you think? See our Facebook page.
